Written Assignment: Dodge's Paul Harvey "God Made a Farmer"
Dodge's Paul Harvey "God Made a Farmer" advertisement during Superbowl XLVII was a video of panning photos of the different jobs that farmers do in America. The narrator, Paul Harvey, was reciting a speech that detailed the importance of hard-working farmers that work day-in and day-out to provide this country with crops and dairy and almost all of our domestic natural foods, and that their virtually the backbone of American society. But what was the most powerful message from the 1 minute ad was the pictures that were panned throughout. Whether it was a young girl helping her family or a middle-aged man hauling hay off a truck, each image that was shown personified what it was like and what it is to be a farmer. All the images were given more dark contrast to highlight the main subject. The picture also partially panning elements, which gave more movement and life to the picture without it becoming a video. Overall this ad was an extremely moving piece which not only conveyed the important strength and sacrifice American farmers make, but also used that idea of stability/dependability on Dodge's Ram trucks that help farmers and could potentially help you.
